Credibility is defined as “the quality of being believable or worthy of trust”. Dictionart.com (2016)
When it comes to credibility it has two key factors that, join creditability, one is trustworthy and the other is expertise. What some people do is that they join them together to evaluate these two elements to get an overall assessment on credibility. Trustworthy is referred to as “able to be relied on as honest or trustful”, Google definition (2016). And expertise as “expertise skill or knowledge; expertness’ know-how”. Dictionary.com (2016).
I believe that credibility is important because, if we don’t evaluate the websites that we are gathering information from, they can give us false details about what we are searching, and the information will not be valid. One of the things that we would need to check is if the website is fair and unbiased, check the physical address, email address, phone number to see if they are credible according to Fogg, B. (2003).
Many of us need to be careful when searching information on website and read careful what the site is about and if its valid because, many of us just scan read the information and might not see that the site is not really reliable it can affect our outcome in any situation, so we all have to try and see the small details which don’t take long to figure out that it’s credible or not.
